KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan received a courtesy call from a delegation from Element 25 Limited, Australia at his office in Wisma Sumber Alam, yesterday.

The Element 25 visitors were managing director Justin Brown and development manager Neil Graham who are interested in investing in a lithium-ion battery ‘high purity manganese sulphate’ production project.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Element 25 would like to conduct a feasibility study for the project in Sarawak as the state is interested in electric vehicles (EVs) and already has a copper foil producer in Kuching.

Awang Tengah who is also the Minister of International Trade and Investment and Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development of Sarawak said that the government is in talks with several investors who are interested in producing hydrogen fuel in Sarawak to utilise the availability of green electricity.

“Clearly, this is in line with the Post COVID-19 Sarawak Development Strategy 2030 to achieve a high-income economy encompassing economic prosperity, social inclusion and environmental sustainability,” Awang said.
