KUCHING: The Auxiliary Police or Polis Bantuan will assist the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) next year in view of Visit Malaysia 2020.

Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety (JPJKK) director CP Datuk Seri Rosli Abdul Rahman said: “We have requested assistance from PB to help the PDRM tourist unit at the frontlines.

“They are able to assist them (police tourist units) in airports, borders between neighbouring countries and ports.”

He spoke at a press conference after officiating the 31st Malaysia Auxiliary Police Association (MAPA) annual conference yesterday at Imperial Hotel here.

He stated that in PDRM, they had membership constraints and other issues hence, PB was able to help them in this matter.

“At a certain time in the future, PDRM along with MAPA and relevant agencies will discuss on how they are able to ask for help from the PB.

“In the administration’s direction, PDRM may seek the assistance of agencies that can provide help in situations of need.

“We will work together and look after the tourist attraction spots in the country and the state to reduce the crime rate,” he said.

The three-day conference held from Saturday until yesterday saw a total of 250 auxiliary policemen from 85 agencies or companies attending.

During the three-day conference, many matters were discussed by MAPA in relation to public service, safety and security as well as the welfare of PB in assisting their employers.

Yesterday, the new MAPA logo was launched by CP Rosli, MAPA president Datuk Aisyah Mohamad and Sarawak CP Datuk Ramli Din, their third logo since its establishment 31 years ago.
