Awang Tengah briefed on JX Nippon’s operations

TOKYO: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan met with Hideo Kondo (director, senior vice president, executive director of Business Division 1) of JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration Corporation today (Dec 20), during his official visit to Tokyo this week.

According to a press statement, the company briefed Awang Tengah on its operations in Sarawak and on exploring opportunities for existing business and new sector such as Carbon Capture and Storage.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), said he was glad that JX Nippon has been in operation in Sarawak since 1987 and would continue to explore more cooperations with the state government to expand their business in Sarawak, in line with Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

Among those present at the meeting were Deputy Minister of MINTRED Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; MINTRED advisor Datuk Naroden Majais; Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development permanent secretary Datuk Zaidi Mahdi; Land and Survey Department director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi; MINTRED acting permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron; MINTRED special function officer Datuk Liaw Soon Eng; RECODA chief executive officer Datuk Ismawi Ismuni; Petroleum Sarawak Berhad senior vice president corporate strategy Abang Arabi Abang Narudin and RECODA director of investment, Lester Matthew.
