Awang Tengah commends Agrobank for ‘Cashless Daro’ initiative

DARO: The Sarawak government is committed to advancing digital and smart innovation in collaboration with all sectors of society and industry.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said cashless payments will be able to boost sales for traders.

He urged individuals from all walks of life to embrace this convenient, rapid and secure mode of payment.

His remarks were delivered by Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad at the launch and opening ceremony of ‘Cashless Daro’ recently, as per a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) report.

Awang Tengah also commended Agrobank in its proactive efforts in enhancing the adoption of digital technology, especially within the ‘Cashless Daro’ initiative.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by Daro residents in accessing sufficient automated teller machines (ATMs) for cash withdrawals.

“I am confident that the cashless initiative promoted by Agrobank can provide a solution to this problem.

“I also urge traders and suppliers, especially in the agricultural sector, to leverage the full range of banking products and services provided by Agrobank.”

Also present at the ceremony were Agrobank chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, Bank Negara Malaysia deputy governor Datuk Marzunisham Omar, Daro District Office representative Mohammad Madzihi Mohd Musa, Sarawak FAMA director Ramli Mat Sani, Payments Network Malaysia chief commercial officer Gary Yeoh and Penghulu Jebli Ngok.
