BELADIN: Sarawak has every right to be given a bigger funding from the federal government for its infrastructure development.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stressed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must prove that the coalition had the strong support of the people, especially in the 15th general election (GE15).
“That’s why GPS needs to win big, including the coalition’s new candidate for the Batang Lupar parliamentary seat, Mohamad Shafizan Kepli.
“We reject Perikatan Nasional (PN-PAS) as well as Pakatan Harapan (PH)…quite bitter and painful when they (PH) were at the helm for 22 months.
“When we win big, the voices of our representatives will be louder, including fighting for a larger distribution of funding, which is Sarawak’s right as one of the regions that make up Malaysia,” he added.
Awang Tengah was speaking at the handover of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code following the NCR land perimeter survey, at Beladin Community Hall here today.
He also reminded political parties contesting in GE15 not to touch on sensitive issues such as race and religion.
“Sarawak is stable because its people are united and they work together.
“We have some 40 races and no one race can rule alone unless there is cooperation.
“The same goes for religious issues. Don’t ever bring it up and if we are influenced, then the people will be divided.
“In Batang Lupar, regardless of differences, I call for support for Shafizan, because he is one of the next generation of leaders trusted by GPS president (and Premier) Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.”
At the event, Awang Tengah handed over 50 land titles to 39 people from the Entebu-Selamong/Muton area, and 37 land titles to 35 people from the Sungai Bras area.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor, former Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim and Shafizan were also present.
