KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting unity, cultural diversity, and collaborative partnerships for the betterment of the community.

Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) chairman Datuk Amar Jaul Samion said this in reference to Azam undergoing strategic transformation planning, undertaken jointly by SDI and Azam.

“We know that Azam is transforming itself and the journey is ongoing so we hope that there will be a renewal of spirit  and hope this will be a start of that journey.

“In Chinese culture, the dragon (referring to the fifth of the 12-year cyclical animal zodiac) in the Chinese calendar, is considered a guardian. The dragon possesses the ability to ward off malevolent spirits, providing a shield against harm.

“It is also a symbol of transformation, which is to my liking, because it relates to our journey in our transformation,” Jaul said at the Greater Azam Chinese New Year Gathering 2024 which was attended by more than 100 people at a hotel here Saturday.
