Azizi wins August edition to top CSL league

KUCHING: Wan Azizi emerged as champion for August edition of the Ciska Skateboarding League 2019 (CSL 2019) held at Aeon Mall Kuching Central, here, on Saturday to bring home a cash prize of RM200. Azizi scored 10 points for the month which put him top overall in the league (CSL 2019) with accumulated 20 points. This was his third time participating in the league. The first runner up was Ezmith Ujang who 13 accumulated points to receive RM100.

Over 40 participants took part in the event which was jointly organised by Sarawak Skateboarding Association (SKA), Civic Centre Skateboarding Club (Ciska) and Aeon Mall Kuching Central. The event also featured other categories where Achmadi Ahmad won the Otai Segment with his Halfcab 50/50 trick followed closely by first runner up Muhd Haidil with his Switch Nosegrind Revert trick.

Gavin Jordan Nuek won the Best Trick Open category with his Krook Bigspin Out trick. The CSL 2019 is a skateboarding development league which was introduced in 2016 and is the
first and only bi-monthly league programme in Malaysia.

The league which is entering its fourth year has consistently carried out its mission to find skateboarding athletes to represent the state at the national level. In the final which will be held in December, the overall champion will receive the grand prize of RM1,500, merchandising prizes from corporate sponsors and a chance to undergo intensive athlete development training under SKA. Also present at the event were SKA chairman Mohammad Farouk Tufail M a h m u d , Aeon Mall K u c h i n g Central manager Erwin O c t av i o u s Ranyes and Sarawak Youth and Sports Department assistant sports commissioner Hazwan Salleh Baihaki.
