KUCHING: Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni has said that the high cost of houses in the market have put a strain on the B40 (low-income) group.

“The high prices of houses in the market have caused the B40 group to be unable to purchase and own a house.

“This would definitely have a negative impact on families, especially children who have to live with other families in a small house,” he said.

He said this when met after surveying the Projek Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS) at Kampung Tabuan Drahman last Saturday.

Aside from this area, he also surveyed PPRMS at Kampung Tabuan Selipar Putus Cemerlang (SPC) and Kampung Tabuan Dani.

Dr Hazland said that an ideal home would not only improve wellbeing but also help in forming an ideal family and community.

“A home is a place to grow, educate, and protect children, as well as to build and develop families. The home is also the first point in children’s formation, other than school. It can also prevent the occurrence of social issues,” he said.
