KUCHING: The Back to School Programme organised by the Santubong Parliamentary office on Friday (Feb 16) has benefitted a total of 148 students from SK Telaga Air.

Federal Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri pointed out that the initiative aims to alleviate the burden on parents and encourage children to continue attending school.

The Santubong MP added that her office has successfully assisted over 700 students in the parliamentary constituency since January 2024.

“It is my hope that one day we will see the children from this constituency excel and make their parents proud, while also elevating the name of the Santubong Parliamentary to a higher level. InshaAllah,” she said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, through the National Welfare Foundation (YKN), she provided compassionate welfare aid and various necessities such as diapers to an elderly person bedridden due to a stroke.

The recipient, 82-year-old Awang Sakni Awang Shahrum, has been dealing with the aftermath of a stroke since January, requiring additional medical supplies for his care.

“Despite heavy rain pounding us today, it did not deter us from continuing our welfare visit journey to the area. Our activities today began with a visit to Awang Sakni Awang Shahrum in Kampung Telaga Air.

“Let us pray that Awang Sakni and his family are facilitated in all their affairs. InshaAllah,” she said.
