KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases on Thursday (Sept 10), with the total number of cases in the state thus far remaining at 700.

In a statement on Thursday (Sept 10), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that no new cases had recovered and been discharged from hospitals, with the total number of recovered and discharged cases so far remaining at 676 or 96.57 percent.

“Five individuals are still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards – two in Bintulu Hospital and one each in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Sibu Hospital, and Miri Hospital.

“Three new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and no PUIs are awaiting laboratory results,” they said.

As of Thursday, only one Covid-19 cluster remains active in the state, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu with eight cases — seven of which had recovered and been discharged from the hospital while one case was still being treated at Bintulu Hospital.

SDMC also said that 22 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels on Thursday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 11 hotels to 669, while 23,711 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

They said that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) issued five compound notices for non-compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) — two in Kuching and one each in Kota Samarahan, Padawan, and Sarikei.

On Ops Benteng, the committee said that 1,001 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts on Thursday — two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
