KUCHING: The State Health Department has declared one new Covid-19 cluster here, dubbed the Bako Hilir Cluster.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cluster is a community cluster that was detected involving four families in Kampung Bako Hilir in this district.

In view of the current situation, it said the village will be placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from today (May 12) to May 25.

“The index case to this cluster is a 24-year-old local woman who was detected through symptomatic individual screening at Petra Jaya Health Clinic on April 29 and confirmed positive for Covid-19 on April 30.

“The index case, who is a housewife, had gotten the infection from the community and had spread the infection to family members and other residents through close contact and casual contact.

“As a result of further investigation and active case detection activities involving family members and casual contacts to the index case, there was an addition of 17 Covid-19 positive cases with one new case reported today (May 11),” it said in a statement on Tuesday (May 11).

SDMC said the State Health Department has also declared the end of three clusters, namely Kingsway Road Cluster in Miri, Sungai Rassau Cluster in Matu and Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan Cluster in Beluru after no new cases were detected or reported within the past 28 days.

“There are a total of 76 active clusters where 14 clusters recorded 54 new case additions while 62 clusters did not record any additions.”

On a separate note, SDMC said Lawas District was declared a Covid-19 yellow zone from previously being a green zone after one new locally transmitted case was detected today.

“This brings the number of yellow zone districts to 10 districts and green zone districts have been reduced to two. Meanwhile, 28 districts remain as red zones,” it said.
