KUCHING: Federal Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub conducted a two-day working visit to Sarawak, during which he implemented the ‘Jelajah Rahmah’ initiative, covering four segments of the Rahmah umbrella initiative.

On behalf of the minister, his political secretary Suhaizan Kaiat visited 4th Mile Everrise Departmental Store Sdn Bhd on today (April 13) for one out of four segments, namely the Bakul Rahmah and Jualan Rahmah segments, aimed at providing relief to those in need during the holy month of Ramadan.

Salahuddin stated that under the Bakul Rahmah segment, 350 individuals from the B10 group, with a monthly income of less than RM2,500, were provided with Bakul Rahmah.

“The initiative was led by Everrise Supermarket, adopting a ‘From the People, For the People’ approach.

“Everrise Supermarket offered two types of packages for purchase by the public, which were then delivered to the targeted group in need.

“A total of 650 Bakul Rahmah were collected for the targeted group in Sarawak, with 300 already distributed in Miri on March 17,” he said.

He added that on Thursday, 350 Bakul Rahmah worth an estimated RM13,485.40 were handed over through five organisations, namely the Kuching North City Hall, Ragad Foundation, Sarawak Human Development Organisation, Cats FM, and Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society, to the respective target groups to alleviate their cost of living burden.

According to him, the Bakul Rahmah initiative has successfully assisted more than 34,000 households from the B10 group nationwide, with over 12,000 Bakul Rahmah distributed throughout the month of Ramadan.

The ministry expresses its gratitude to the strategic partners of the Bakul Rahmah initiative, including retailers, corporate companies, non-governmental organisations, and donors, who have collectively contributed to easing the cost of living burden for the B10 group.
