KUCHING: There is a balanced mix of experienced and well-regarded individuals from the coalition of political parties in the formation of the unity government.

The president of the Federation of Chinese Associations of Sarawak Datuk Richard Wee said that although it is expected for BN/UMNO to be given an important role in the unity government and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi being appointed as deputy prime minister despite pending court cases that have not cleared him, Wee believes that we should focus more on the positive out of this Cabinet.

“Put that aside, there is actually a balanced mix of experienced and individuals with good reputation nominated in the Cabinet.

“It is hoped that this unity government will ensure that their pledges and promises be fulfilled as outlined in their manifesto,” Wee said.

Meanwhile, Wee added that with five ministers being elected when only four was expected by our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, it has shown that our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim places a lot of faith in our ministers from Sarawak.

“It shows that the Prime Minister has placed the importance of the representation from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“It is hoped that with the strong and solid presence of the Sarawak ministers, we can achieve the goals and objectives of Sarawakians, like the restoration of Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), the interests, rights and autonomy of Sarawak in a smoother process and a more expeditious timeline,” he concluded.
