BALINGIAN: The National Day 2020 & National Youth Day Saberkas Balingian branch-level celebration was held here on Monday (Aug 31).
It featured interesting activities such as PUBG Mobile Challenge, Saberkas Tiktok, Youth Colouring Challenge, Creative Writing Competition and Win, and Merdeka convoy.
Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi congratulated the Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Balingian branch committee for successfully organising the three-day (Aug 29-31) celebration.
He said the event was a good example to help strengthen unity among people of various backgrounds.
“Unity has no meaning if we do not safeguard it through meaningful activities like these,” he said when officiating the event at Kampung Masjid’s multipurpose hall here on Monday (Aug 31).
Abdul Yakub, who is also Saberkas Balingian branch chairman, stressed the importance of cooperation and tolerance among the people.
The former Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) walikota added that such noble values needed to be cultivated from a young age, especially at school level.
The objectives of the celebration, among others, were to scout for talents in digital sports and leadership among local youths.
