BALINGIAN: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi (pic) assured that the water supply problem in his constituency will end in 2021.

He said this to reporters yesterday after receiving reports of water shortage in Temesu and Ulu Bayan.

“The current drought has caused the water level in Sungai Mukah to decline. Because of this, the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) has taken action to close the water supply connection located at the Rumah Ingu area. Due to the closure, Temesu and Ulu Bayan areas have experienced water problems.

“To overcome this situation, JBALB will monitor and ensure that clean water is continuously provided to affected residents,” Abdul Yakub explained.

According to him, a booster station in Matedeng and a high level water tank will be set up in Ulu Bayan so that water supply can be channelled directly from Mukah.

“Once completed, the affected areas will no longer receive water supply from the Selangau Water Treatment Plant,” he said.

He reminded community leaders to cooperate with JBALB so that water issues in their areas could be resolved quickly.
