Bandar Kuching MP lends support to youth empowerment activities

KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen recently attended the enrolment ceremony of the Boys Brigade Kuching 6th Company at Ching Kwong Methodist Church.

“It was a great opportunity to witness the installation of new young leaders as well as honouring those who have served for many years,” he said on Tuesday (April 26).

“I believe in young people, beneficial activities such as Boys Brigade is an important platform to teach and guide our young in terms of discipline, order, commitment, teamwork and of course, leadership.

“That is why I have always been supportive of their activities and this time around I also allocated some donations for them to run their activities.”

Meanwhile, Dr Yii and his team continued to send new school uniforms to different schools in his constituency to help needy students.

“This time we sent new uniforms to the students of SK Catholic English. It is located behind SJK St Paul and they even share the same school compound as well as the canteen.

“We hope the new uniforms will encourage them to study well and be good students.”

He shared that he had been working closely with the school to identify their needs and help them to his best abilities.

“The headmaster is going to retire soon, we have been working closely for the good of the school over the years. I am looking forward to working with the new headmaster soon for the benefit of the students and teachers.”
