INDONESIA:  Sarawak is using Bandung smart city as a model to develop Kuching as the first smart city in the state.

Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the success of Bandung as a smart city for four years will be the best model for Kuching.

“Bandung, with population of 2.57 million or 167.67 people per square km, has been transformed into modern-day city while retaining local cultural heritage via digital creativity and innovation,” he said after paying a courtesy visit on West Java Governor Mochamad Ridwan Kamil at the latter’s office in Gedong Sate, Bandung.

“There is a lot we can learn and share together, especially in the ICT development sector, which has been successfully implemented in Bandung smart city in terms of its administration.

“In other words, this effort will ensure that we can accelerate the implement of our digital economy,” he pointed out.

The Sarawak delegation included deputy state secretary Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit and state government officials who will be involved in the development of Kuching Smart City.
