Banker and two others nabbed, drugs seized

MIRI: A 39-year-old banker is amongst two local men arrested by the police for suspected involvement in trafficking and possessing drugs during a raid held on Tuesday evening.

In the raid dubbed ‘Ops Sulit’, police also seized syabu weighing 83g and heroin (1.93g) with total street value of RM12,517.60.

According to Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief Supt Sahar Abdul Latif, the first suspect, aged 50, was detained at the car park area of Brighton Condominium in Jalan Datuk Temenggong Oyong Lawai Jau here at 4.30pm.

A check of the inside of the suspect’s car, the team discovered five plastic packets inside a receptacle containing illegal substances believed to be syabu and heroin.

“The first suspect later led the police to an apartment located at Jalan Tanjong Lobang where they found and detained the second suspect, a banker,” said Sahar.

Sahar added that at the apartment, police found and seized RM10,000 which they suspected to be money made from the sale of drugs.

The police also seized two cars and a Rolex wrist watch.
