KUCHING: Incumbent Baru Bian (pic) has retained his post as state chairman of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

The party announced his re-election in a brief statement last night.

Baru has been the state PKR chief since 2009. It was reported that 22 of the 29 party divisions supported Baru in the state party election.

Baru, who is Works Minister, was challenged for the post by Miri MP Dr Michael Teo. Dr Teo is also the Miri PKR chairman.

PKR has 31 divisions in Sarawak but only 29 of them could vote in the party polls.

Two divisions reportedly had their polls postponed due to technical issues.
