KABONG: The development of basic infrastructure is a key focus area for Kabong assemblyman, Mohd Chee Kadir to ensure villagers in this rural constituency progress in tandem with other communities.

Mohd Chee noted that many people in the constituency were still living in run-down houses and without basic amenities like piped water and electricity.

“Hence, I am focusing on the development of basic infrastructure to ensure that these people can have decent lives and the needy are given the necessary assistance by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government,” he said.

Mohd Chee was speaking at a dialogue session with selected contractors for the Phase 2 of “Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS)” here yesterday.

A total of 33 houses in Kabong District would be repaired or constructed under the programme.

He said PPRMS was an initiative of the Sarawak government in its efforts to help the poor and needy.

“The project will ensure that those who are eligible, will be able to repair their homes so that they can live in a more comfortable environment.”

He advised the selected contractors to ensure that the work was done promptly and efficiently so that house owners could move into their new homes quickly.

He expressed confidence that the PPRMS assistance could significantly reduce the burden of the poor.
