SIBU: The Area Development Committee (ADC) of Batang Oya/Pakoh/Sekuau wants to improve its people’s income by implementing agriculture programmes.

Its chairman Henry Kanyan revealed that the state government had issued an occupation ticket (OT) licence to an area of 497 hectares at Rumah Seliau and gave it to the committee to develop.

“This will allow us to discuss with the people the benefits of agriculture.

“We will make a study visit to China to enhance our knowledge on the development of agriculture products such as ‘Musang King’ and banana,” he said.

Henry stated this at the ADC Batang Oya/ Pakoh /Sekuau Pre-Gawai Dinner held at a leading hotel here on Saturday night.

The dinner was officiated by Sibu Resident Charles Siaw.

While speaking on the agriculture project to be developed in the ADC Batang Oya/Pakoh and Sekuau, Henry thanked the state government for approving the perimeter survey of about 33,000 hectares of land in Sekuau, Pakoh and Oya.

“The land owners are also able to choose their own companies such as Salcra to develop their land.

“And what is most important here is that land owners of the 33,000 hectares must be given the land titles first,” he said.

Among those present were Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai.
