KOTA PADAWAN: The stretch of Batu Kitang Road from the Batu Kitang Bridge at the Water Processing Plant to Mile 7th traffic light will be upgraded and tarsealed.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said after the pipeline laying works was completed, the Public Works Department (JKR) had agreed to tarseal the whole road again.

“This is the thing that I want to inform the public. I know it is very inconvenient now and I know it is not a nice ride on the road now.  After the pipeline was done and the contractor patched it up the road now is still very unfriendly. But JKR had agreed to seal the whole road again after the pipeline work is completed,” Lo, who is also Batu Kitang Assemblyman told reporters.

Lo informeed, the subject had also been brought up in the recent DUN sitting as well.

According to him, the overall lenght of the Old Bau-Kuching Road is 21.5km and out of these 21.5km, the design for upgrading of the stretch of the road is approximately 4.5km from Mile 7th Traffic Light Junction to Jalan Stephen Yong Junction is being carried out as part of the Inner Right Road Project. “So this is a piece of good news,” he said.
