Bau, Serian go from orange to red

KUCHING: The districts of Bau and Serian have changed their statuses to red from orange.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the two districts recorded 41 and 42 local infection cases respectively in the last two weeks.

Samarahan and Song districts changed from yellow to orange after they recorded 21 and 23 local infection cases respectively in the past 14 days.

“Subis, Julau, Selangau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remain as red zones with a total of 2,604 local infection cases reported in the 10 districts within the past two weeks.

“Kanowit, Sarikei, Dalat and Sri Aman remain as orange zones with 100 local infection cases reported in the past two weeks,” SDMC said today.

SDMC said the districts of Belaga, Lundu, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Marudi, Mukah, Pusa, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok and Sebauh remain as yellow zones with 96 local infection cases recorded in the past 14 days.

There are 11 districts in Sarawak still listed as green zones.

On the number of recovery and discharged cases, SDMC said there were 137 as of today.

“Of the total, 40 cases are from Bintulu Hospital, Sibu Hospital (28), Sarawak General Hospital (23), Miri Hospital (17), Kapit Hospital (16), low-risk and quarantine centre (PKRC) Betong (seven) and Sarikei Hospital (six).

“This brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that have recovered or allowed to be discharged to 9,124 people or 77.92 per cent from the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state,” it said.

The committee added that as of today, 26,142 individuals had received the Covid-19 vaccine since the start of the vaccination programme on Feb 26.
