MUNICH: Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are interested in Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, according to information from broadcaster Sky, reported German news agency (dpa).

Bayern are said to have already contacted the 30-year-old substitute goalkeeper of the Champions League winners.

The former Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper was already being discussed at Bayern in January, but the club then signed Yann Sommer as a replacement for the injured regular goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Ortega moved to Manchester City last season when the team claimed Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup success under former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola. Ortega’s contract runs until 2025.

In Bayern Munich’s search for a replacement for Neuer, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga was one of the transfer options that fell through on Monday.
