BELADIN: Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor has reminded the village development and security committees (JKKK) in his constituency of their role and duties, and to always be creative and proactive in developing their areas.

He explained that JKKKs who are creative could help the community and would be seen as really having the desire to look after the welfare of the community.

He was speaking at a meeting with community and tribal leaders (KMKK) at Dewan al-Amin on Wednesday (Jan 25).

“Now it’s 2023 and a lot of changes are required.

“You (JKKKs) are the ones who design and draft the (development) proposals needed in your respective villages,” he said.

Razaili emphasised that agricultural road projects were top on the list.

“Our strength is agriculture…that is why I want a list of proposals for agricultural road projects in each village for us to advance under the Betong Divisional Development Agency (BDDA).

“Secondly, the issue of native customary rights (NCR) land claims. I suggest that the JKKKs identify lots that can be applied for as a Village Expansion Scheme (SPK).

“Fourth, for traditional villages that have not yet received a grant, JKKKs need to submit an application to the government.

“Due to the rapid growth of several villages, JKKKs are also advised to apply for an increase in the positions of penghulu and village head.

“Sixth, intensify the welfare programme.

“And seventh, JKKKs are asked to think about efforts to strengthen the economic wellbeing of the people in their respective areas.”

Razaili added that the current economic challenges depended on well-planned socioeconomic development.
