KUCHING: Information Department (JaPen) staff have been told to be honest, efficient and professional when executing their duties in the new norm.

JaPen director-general Datuk Mohd Sukari Ab Hamid was speaking at the annual address live from the JaPen headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday (Feb 18).

He pointed out that JaPen was one of the government agencies disseminating information as well as promoting government policies to the public through various mediums, including social media.

“In accepting the challenges of the digital world in accordance with #JaPenKiniDigital, I believe that JaPen staff will continue to discharge their duties diligently. 

“This is to ensure continuous dissemination of information on current issues related to national policies as well as promoting government programmes.”

Mohd Sukari also advised JaPen staff to  monitor relevant issues on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, blogs and other news portals, including INFLUENCER@JaPen, a new programme posted on JaPen’s social media.

“I am optimistic about the abilities of JaPen staff in carrying out their duties and the department is also committed in organising training to produce officers that are competent and efficient.” 

A total of 263 officers and members of Sarawak JaPen attended the annual address via teleconference, including Sarawak JaPen director Swady Guliling, officers from Sarawak JaPen’s professional and management group as well as district JaPen officers and staff.
