MUKAH: Community leaders should be loyal to the state government which approved their appointments, said Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo.

He pointed out that community leaders were appointed by the state government, not the federal government.

“In view of that, community leaders should support and be loyal to the state government,” he said when officiating at the presentation of certificates of appointment to community leaders in Mukah District at Menara Pehin Setia Raja here on Tuesday.

The former Balingian assemblyman also advised community leaders to help maintain proper records of the bank accounts of the village development and security committees (JKKKs).

He also briefly touched on the basic government structure in Malaysia which comprised the federal, state and local authorities.

Yussibnosh hoped the community leaders would always cooperate with the Resident and District Offices as well as other local agencies for the interest of all parties.

At the same ceremony, Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi also presented appointment certificates to penghulu, ketua kaum, tuai rumah and kapitan in his constituency.
