LUNDU: In conjunction with this year’s Maal Hijrah 1442H celebration, ketua masyarakat and ketua kaum (KMKK) are urged to be more proactive for the development of Lundu district and villages.

Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu advised KMKK to work more closely with the surrounding community to take care of their respective villages while ensuring that their needs were prioritised for comprehensive development.

She said this when attending the Maal Hijrah Programme 2020 at Masjid Pehin Sri Haji Adenan Satem here last Thursday.

With the theme ‘Ummah Rabbani, Negara Harmoni’, a simply ceremony was held here in line with the standard operating procedure.

“Lundu has become the focus of visitors every weekend. Each KMKK has to ensure that their respective villages are clean and provide input on how to further develop the villages with close cooperation between Pemanca, Penghulu, and Lundu district KMKKs,” Jamilah said.

At the ceremony, a total of RM15,000 was contributed by Yayasan Jaznan for the purpose of repairs and purchasing lighting equipment for Masjid Pehin Sri Haji Adenan Satem.

Meanwhile, Jamilah promised RM90,000 to be given to all 60 Village Development and Security Committees in Tanjung Datu for the maintenance of halls, surau, or mosques in the villages.

The ceremony, which began with a tazkirah (sermon) from Ustaz Azmi Ashaari, was also attended by Lundu District officer Gustian Durani, Lundu District Council secretary Norashikin Brahim, Pemanca Bentani Suni, and Lundu District Islamic KMKKs.
