KUCHING: The people are urged to be united and remain resilient for their dreams of an economic transformation in the state to be realised.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Sarawakians must have an unrelenting attitude and back the state government to safeguard Sarawak.
“Under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, we have seen a lot of rakyat-centric development plans executed and many more in the pipelines to uplift the people’s living standard.
“The government is preparing Sarawak to pursue economic transformation more vigorously, navigate a changing external strategic landscape globally while deepening its social component at home.
“For the plans to succeed, for our hopes and dreams to come true, we will need the unity and resilience of our people,” he said in his New Year message today.
Uggah said the 2021 Budget was testament to the government’s commitment to expedite rural development, stimulate economic growth and improve the livelihood of the people.
“The Budget also reflects inclusive policies prioritising rural-biased development to reduce the gap between urban and rural areas.
“As we usher in 2021, I would like to assure all Sarawakians that it is the Sarawak government’s upmost priority to safeguard Sarawak interest and to bring it and its people to greater heights.”
Uggah who is Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman, also thanked committee members and frontliners for working selflessly during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the public for being cooperative and complying with standard operating procedure guidelines issued by the authorities.
