BINTULU: Seventy employees of Sarawak Oil Palms and Sime Darby Oils Bintulu Sdn Bhd came together to participate in a beach clean-up here on Friday.

The three-hour event was jointly organised by the two companies with the shared goal of preserving the natural beauty and ecological health of the coastline.

Armed with gloves, trash bags, and a commitment to making a difference, their staff combed the shoreline, meticulously collecting plastic waste, debris, and other pollutants that had washed ashore.

“Our organisations are deeply committed to environmental sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship,” said  SOP Refinery Controller-Operations Officer, Kiu Kwong Chiang.

“By working together on the CSR programme, we aim to demonstrate our dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Bintulu’s beaches and safeguarding its marine ecosystem.”

Both companies hope to continue collaborating on initiatives aimed at safeguarding the environment and creating a sustainable future for residents.
