Beach clean-up marks World Cleanliness Day

KUCHING: Over 200 people took part in the World Cleanliness Day 2022 cleaning programme organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) here.

As in the past, the implementation of the celebration this year was held on Sept 17 simultaneously around the world.

This time the programme was held at Pasir Panjang Beach, Petra Jaya, starting at 7.30 am and was attended by students and staff from the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, TM Sarawak Hub, Trienekens, Cosmopoint and Unitar Colleges as well as Management and Science University (MSU).

The coastal area was chosen as the location to run the programme this year to help combat the solid waste problem including marine debris.

The programme saw gotong-royong and plogging activities to clean the beach and its surrounding area.

The programme was launched by DBKU Director Mohamed Khaidir Abang.
