Beauty queens get to hear Sarawak’s plans

KUCHING: Beauty queens from across the world have now come to know about how Sarawak is charting a path to becoming an advanced region by the year 2030.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian took time out to expound on the state’s plans when the organising committee of the 25th Miss Tourism International 2022 World Final and Miss Tourism International (MTI) beauty queens made a courtesy visit to him here today.

Dr Sim welcomed the visitors and congratulated Sarawak’s YAST Group for successfully obtaining the right to host this event, thus “Bringing the World to Sarawak”.

He shared the future development trends of Sarawak, especially about it moving towards an advanced region by 2030.

“Through a well-planned strategic implementation modelling after some of the world’s most advanced countries, Sarawak is set to be the richest state by 2030, with people’s welfare being the top priority,” Dr Sim said.

Additionally, he showed the visitors how recycling things like turning unwanted street light bulbs into a flower pots can achieve effective resource usage and sustainability through simple ideas, without spending much.

The 25th Miss Tourism International 2022 World Final, which will be held in Kuching over 18 days from Nov 10-27 will involve a series of promotional activities with the grand finale to be held at the Raia Hotel & Convention Centre here.
