Bedup Longgo Cluster makes Serian entry

KUCHING: A new cluster called the Bedup Longgo Cluster was declared in Serian today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this was a community cluster involving a village located at Kampung Bedup Longgo in Serian.

“A total of 93 people have been screened, of which 24 including the index case were found positive for Covid-19 and 69 were found negative,” it said in a statement today.

It said that this cluster had 18 new cases reported today, adding that this cluster also involved a death.

The committee said the positive cases were being isolated and treated at Serian Hospital and the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Serian district.

Meanwhile, five clusters ended today as there was no new case involving them detected or reported over the last 28 days.

These five clusters include Sungai Selangan Cluster and Sungai Sentebu Cluster in Sarikei, Skim B Cluster and Sungai Banun Cluster in Meradong, and Sungai Durin Cluster in Sibu.

With this, SDMC said there were still 92 active clusters remaining in the state, including nine which recorded a total of 58 new cases.
