MIRI: Bekenu incumbent Datuk Rosey Yunus of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is likely to be nominated again to defend the seat for the coming 12th State Election.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Rosey had worked hard for her constituents.

Insya-Allah, if you agree and I believe you would also want Rosey to continue to serve here (in Bekenu) I will retain her,” he said when officiating at the launch of phase two of the Niah Waterfront project here on Monday (Nov 29).

Rosey, 65, was elected as the assemblywoman for Bekenu in the 2006 state polls.  She had successfully defended her seat in the 2011 state polls with 3,714 majority votes.

In the 2016 state polls, Rosey won the Bekenu seat with 4,789 majority vote against her opponents, namely Bill Kayong of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who obtained 1,220 votes, Austin Sigi Melu (Independent) who got 589 votes, and Joe @ Petr Jelin (Independent) who garnered 565 votes.
