Beluru district turns red

KUCHING: Beluru district has changed its status from orange to red today (Apr 1) after recording 46 cases of local infection in the last 14 days.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this brings the total number of red districts in the state to 12.

“Meanwhile, Tatau district has turned yellow from green after recording three local infection cases today (Apr 1),” it said today (Apr 1), adding that the state now has seven green zones.

On the other hand, it said Tanjung Manis district has returned to yellow from orange after recording 18 local infection cases in the last fortnight.

“The state now has 18 yellow zones and three orange zones,” SDMC said.

It said 434 new cases had recovered and been discharged from hospitals and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) — 235 from PKRC in Semuja, Sibu Hospital (68), Miri Hospital (37), Sarikei Hospital (29), Sarawak General Hospital (19), Bintulu Hospital (13), Serian PKRC (11), Betong PKRC (10), PKRC under Kapit Hospital (nine) and one each in PKRC under Sri Aman Hospital, Mukah PKRC and Lawas PKRC.

“This brings the number of recovered and discharged cases to 13,827 or 83.15 percent,” SDMC said.

It added that 2,636 cases are still being isolated and treated at PKRCs and hospital wards.

A total of 274 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and 11 PUIs are still awaiting laboratory results.
