Beluru district turns red

KUCHING: Beluru District was declared a Covid-19 red zone today (Jan 18) after recording 42 locally transmitted cases in the past 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said there were 27 positive cases involving the Pasai Cluster reported in the district today (Jan 18).

He said Betong district had changed its status from green to yellow after seven new locally transmitted cases were also detected in the past 14 days.

“Kuching, Sibu and Miri remain red with 756 locally transmitted cases reported in these districts in the last 14 days.

“Meanwhile, Sebauh district remains orange with 24 locally transmitted cases,” Uggah added when delivering SDMC’s daily Covid-19 update today.

He said Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya, Dalat, Selangau, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Bintulu, Limbang and Kanowit districts remained  yellow  with a total of 60 locally transmitted cases.

Uggah said 19 other districts remained green.
