SONG: The Yayasan Sarawak’s Career and Educational Carnival must be continued to produce excellent students that will contribute to Sarawak’s prosperity, said Lidam Assan.

The Katibas assemblyman stated that the programme is very beneficial in informing students who have graduated or those who are going to sit for their public examination on information and guidance to pursue their higher education.

He said the programme is an initiative of the state government through Yayasan Sarawak to approach students and former students to continue their studies at institutions of higher learning owned by the state.

“As part of my responsibilities as an assemblyman, I will remain committed in fulfilling my responsibilities and be alert on the needs of schools as well as students in Song to ensure that the level of education here continues to improve.

“Through this programme, I hope that institutes of higher learning and universities with the help of Yayasan Sarawak can provide more opportunities to help students and schools in Song,” he said.

This was pointed out by him when officiating at the carnival held in SMK Song’s school hall.

Lidam pointed out that education must be given emphasis because it can help to change the fate of people in the rural areas.

He said Song district also has students who are able to compete with those in the city when they successfully further their studies.

“There are various assistance from Yayasan Sarawak which has facilitated in making students’ who wish to pursue their studies,” he added.
The carnival was organised by the Song District Education Office in collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak together with institutions of higher learning under the state government.
