MUKAH: Nineteen needy persons from the district received cash donations in the form of angpows from the Mukah Chinese Benevolent Society (MCBS) yesterday morning.

The angpows were presented by MCBS chairman, Yeo Tiong Ing at a simple ceremony held at MK99 Seafood Restaurant here.

It was held in conjunction with the forthcoming Chinese New Year celebration, which is just a week away.

Yeo said the cash assistance for the needy has been an annual event for the society since its establishment several decades ago.

“Since not all of the recipients are present today, the rest will receive them later,” he said.
