KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak will support the current state government in serving the people.

Bersatu Sarawak chairperson Senator Jaziri Alkaf A Suffian said the party is not out to dislodge Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to lead the state.

“The presence of PN or Bersatu is to work with GPS. Bersatu became a party that supports and help GPS to continue to head the state leadership.

“We also never fought with GPS or create any provocations This is understood by GPS,” he said in a statement recently.

Jaziri said the presence of Bersatu also directly aims to further strengthen the leadership and political influence of GPS in Sarawak.

“We have never thought about the number of seats that will be contested in the election, instead Bersatu remains with the stand to support and help GPS,” he said.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) Sarawak chairman also said Bersatu has been well received as an ally by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the party along with GPS had from time to time held programmes including flood relief, improving the economy of the locals as well as distributing assistances to the rural community.

He said the programmes to help fellow Sarawakians were held together and would continue as a service to the people of Sarawak.
