Bersatu will complement PH parties in Sarawak

MUKAH: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) would complement well the existing Pakatan Harapan (PH) components parties here. According to state Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy chairman and PKR Mukah Branch head Abdul Jalil Bujang, Bersatu’s presence would further strengthen PH in Sarawak. “I am sorry to say, it definitely and is considered a threat to the opposition parties, especially Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he said.

When asked about the launching of Bersatu by Prime Minister Tun Mahathir in Bintulu recently, he said that Bintulu was probably chosen due to the fact that the branch might have the most members in the state. In regards to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), Jalil pointed out that they will continue with the struggle so that the state’s rights can be fully returned to Sarawak. “Our side was the one that highlighted and started it, not GPS.

It was included in the Kuching Declaration a few years back that highlighted about MA63, including Sarawak Day on July 22,” he said. On PKR Mukah, he said it would assist the PH government in serving the people and not just solely for the party. He also said that they should act as the middle persons at the grassroots level in identifying the problems faced by the people and then forwarding them to the relevant authorities. “We have forwarded over 200 applications to the relevant ministries on issues faced by the people,” he said.

At the sametime , h e a l s o pointed that they would assist the PH government in fulfilling the promis es made during the 14th General Election (GE14). “PH will fulfil promises made in the manifesto and being a responsible government, we want the people to enjoy things like roads, water supply and education,” said Jalil. Therefore, he called upon PKR members in the area to play a more proactive role in coming up with a profile of their respective areas and forwarding the problems faced by them to the party.
