MIRI: The ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is committed to providing disabled people (OKU) the best support system, said Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

“In fact, in GPS’s manifesto for the 12th Sarawak state election, out of 34 lists, some were on OKU’s welfare which came under my ministry,” she pointed out.

Fatimah said this during her working visit to a community-based rehabilitation centre (PDK Miri) at the Association of Parents with Special Children (Pibakis) in Lutong here.

“Various assistance and support systems are being provided by the government to help develop the potential of special children including in sports. The government wants to ensure that no one is left behind in our planning,” she explained.

Accompanying Fatimah during the visit were staff of PDK Dalat.

She said in view of the success of PDK Miri, PDK Dalat would adopt the system used by PDK Miri.
