PBB MINI CONVENTION
BETONG: This coastal town is all set to host its biggest event this year – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) mini convention Betong Zone tomorrow (Saturday).
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is the convention’s organising chairman said some 650 delegates from 14 branches would attend the function.
The delegates are from Sebuyau, Lingga, Beting Maro, Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan, Simanggang, Engkilili, Batang Ai, Saribas, Layar, Bukit Saban, Kalaka, Krian and Kabong.
In addition, some 100 members of the party’s supreme council and about 50 veteran members would also attend.
Uggah who is Bukit Saban assemblyman said the convention would comply strictly with all standard operation procedures (SOPs) for the Covid-19 pandemic.
Today, accompanied by Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu and a political secretary to the chief minister Dr Richard Rapu, Uggah attended a rehearsal for the opening ceremony.
The convention to be held at Dewan Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan will start at 7am with the delegates’ registration.
Four working papers will be presented followed by an election briefing for duty officers from the zone.
Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi will be the first to deliver his talk on ‘Strategic Partnership: Infrastructure Development’.
Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stehen Rundi will talk on utility projects.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is PBB president, will launch and address the convention at 10.30am.
This will be followed by presentation of resolutions by Julaihi to Abang Johari.
In the afternoon, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Co-Operatives Datuk Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will give a talk on entrepreneurship incentives and development.
Deputy director of Land and Survey Department Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood will talk on land matters and related issues.
