The fine weather ensured the smooth running of the 2.4km cycling event starting from the Betong Division Sports Complex to Medan Square which was flagged off by the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi who is also the minister in charge.

Leading the cycling was Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Earlier, a Malaysian Family stretching exercise was held.

The excitement of Malaysian families who wanted to express their love for the country through every celebration event held was clearly evident while waving the Jalur Gemilang and the Sarawak flag.

According to one of the cycling participants Tan Gek Hui, 60, the involvement of the multi-ethnic and religious community on Aug 31 showed that Malaysians are very enthusiastic about observing the National Day anniversary.
