KUCHING: Lack of development in Jemoreng will be a thing of the past as a slew of development projects are currently being implemented in the constituency.

Its assemblyman Datuk Juanda Jaya said among the projects are the construction of Batang Igan bridge which will complete the Second Trunk Road link.

He said the bridge was slated for completion by 2024 and is part of the state government’s initiative to develop the area.

“The construction of the bridge is one of the projects by the state government which will be a catalyst for development in the area,” he said.

Among the other development projects in the area are the construction of the new Matu district office, road linking Jalan Igan-Pantai Kuala Igan, Jalan Igan-Rumah Panjang Sungai Ilas and Kampung Sungai Sah as well as Igan community hall.

The Jemoreng assemblyman said the new road link will connect the area to the main town which will be a boon to the people’s socioeconomic development.

“We hope that the government will continue to approve more requests for development in our area so that we can improve the living standard of the rural dwellers here.

“With the new road link, the economic activities of the locals can be improved as well as allowing more developments to come in,” he said.

Earlier, Juanda briefed Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing who visited the area.
