DARO: Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi has forewarned of ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ that would want to undermine Sarawak’s unity through the forthcoming 15th general election (GE15).

While some parties regarded unity as utterly trivial, he said that the current unity was not gained overnight but rather was fostered by past leaders and maintained by the present ones.

“During elections, we would always face the opposition party, but this is the enemy that we can see and we will be able to face them at any time.

“The most dangerous enemy is the wolf in sheep’s clothing because they are among us but we do not know who they are.

“So for these people, I would like to advise them not to play with fire or they may ‘burn’ themselves,” he said during the Daro Festival postponement ceremony here yesterday.

He said during his time as an opposition MP for the first 22 months under the previous Pakatan Harapan, he felt it was so difficult and that sitting in the Parliament was akin to something in vain.

“I spoke in the Dewan Rakyat as if I was talking to a wall, many development projects in Sarawak including Igan such as the Batang Igan Bridge were cancelled by the then federal government.

“That’s why I emphasise that unity is very important in facing the general election that can be held at any time,” he added.
