MIRI: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party’s (SUPP) Pujut branch on Tuesday alerted the public to be on guard against scam phone calls from people falsely claiming to be officials from its office representing Pujut assemblyman, Adam Yii.
Unauthorised individuals have been impersonating “SUPP Pujut 20” in an attempt to contact the public, causing concern among the local community.
As a result, the public is strongly advised not to respond to the number +6014-7890471.
Kelvin Hii, the person in charge of the service centre and Youth chief of the Pujut branch said the number does not belong to the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party or the service centre.
“The service centre employs only one hotline, +6 019-8863819, for communicating with the public. If anyone receives messages from other numbers, it is essential to verify with our service centre,” he said.
Hii emphasised that the public should maintain a high level of vigilance.
Yii who is Miri Mayor, has strongly condemned any form of deception or identity impersonation.
If anyone hears from numbers not associated with the service centre, they should therefore report it immediately, he said.
