KUCHING: The late Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit, 70, is an example of an exemplary leader committed to his work and possessed high leadership quality.

State Transportation assistant minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the demise of the former deputy minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, and a four-term Puncak Borneo MP (formerly known as Mambong constituency), was a loss for the people of Mambong constituency, which is part of the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat.

“The Bidayuh community as a whole has lost a very good leader whose qualities have benefited the community well,” said Dr Jerip.

He said Dawos’ dedication enabled the development of the area, and introduced several tourism products in the constituency.

According to Dr Jerip, because of Dawos’ efforts also, a new constituency Serumbu was created.

Miro added that there were too many memorable moments and experiences that they shared together.

“I remember when we planned and executed all the development plans for Puncak Borneo, he will make sure not even a single village was left out.

“His work ethics and commitment towards his job is incomparable. His idea and passion on what he planned or did is something that I can describe as always out of the box. He taught me a lot on political matters and strategies,” said Miro.

According to Miro, Dawos had always wanted to ensure that the Puncak Borneo parliamentary be not left behind in terms of development.

“And he was also quite passionate about education, where during his four-term as Puncak Borneo MP, he had brought massive development to his constituency, not only physical development but human capital development as well.

“He is a workaholic. Always coming up with new ideas and always guiding those under him. Very humble person with a vast experience in various fields,” added Miro.
