KUCHING: The proposed Bidayuh Cultural Centre project will finally take off soon.

With it being tendered out last month, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Harry Henry Jinep disclosed that the proper and main project proponent will be under the care of consultants while the Dayak Bidayuh National Association is tasked to take charge of the project once it starts.

“This centre will be part of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) initiative.

“On top of that, it will have several facilities for the public to use such as a function hall, a cafe, meeting rooms, and many more,” he said.

This was said in his Facebook page after attending the coordination meeting of the said project yesterday.

On the same day, he also went to inspect the construction site of the new non-halal wet market in Bau.

According to him, the said market is near 95 per cent completion.

“This new market is built for the comfort of the local hawkers here.

“The current market that we have now is located near the Malay community. So I reckon that it is time for it (non-halal hawkers) to be transferred,” he said.
