KUCHING: Allyssa Amanda is the fairest of all after winning Miss Unity Sarawak 2019.

She had won the title beating 17 other finalists during the grand final held at Riverside Majestic Hotel on Friday night.

The 20-year-old Bidayuh from Kuching, a degree student in English for Professional Communication, took home a winning crown and cash prize worth RM3,000.

Organiser of Miss Unity Sarawak 2019 Alaric Soh present the winning trophy to Allyssa Amanda after crowned as Miss Unity Sarawak 2019 during grand final night at Riverside Majestic hotel, Kuching on Friday night.

During the question and answer round, she was asked, “If you are chosen as Miss Unity Sarawak 2019, how would you promote unity in Sarawak?”

With confidence, she gracefully replied, “Although Sarawak has no issue with unity, I would like to promote it through education which begins from an early age, as they are the leaders of the future.”

For the talent round, she played the guitar to a song titled “Wonderful Tonight”.

The first runner-up went to Saniarisa Pesile, 21, also a Bidayuh from Kuching, took home a cash prize worth RM2,000.

The remaining winners in the Top 5 are 24-year-old Jessica John of Iban and Bidayuh descent, 21-year-old Cheryl Syahmina Toh (Chinese Melanau), and 19-year-old Shannon Michael (Bidayuh). Each of them took home cash prizes worth RM500.

For the four subsidiary titles, Best Talent went to 19-year-old Norashela Abdullah (Iban Bugis) who sang “My Heart Will Go On”. She received a cash prize worth RM300.

Meanwhile, the Miss Elegant title went to Shinia James, 22; Miss Photogenic is 20-year-old Vanessa Rosa; and 19-year-old Lea Lourdess won the Miss Friendship title. They each received RM200 as cash prize.

During the final, the contestants went through three rounds where they walked down the runway in their theme wear, cocktail wear, and evening wear.

Each contestant received a certificate of participation while for those who did not win any title, they each received a RM100.

The judges for the contest were makeup artist Alice Jiken, recording artist Betty Bawing, international hairstylist Edmund Yong, lawyer Arthur Lee, businesswoman Shirly Su, and Dr Tony Lau.

The inaugural Miss Unity Sarawak 2019 is organised by Alaric Productions Company.

Also present were Kuching Chung Hua Chinese Middle School 1,3 and 4 Management Committee chairman Datuk Richard Wee, pageant organiser Alaric Soh, and pageant advisor Michael Teo.

The event also saw the presentation of donation from Soh to the Kuching Chung Hua Chinese Middle School 1,3 and 4 and selected six NGOs, namely Hung Nam Siang T’ng Old Folk Home, Kuching Autistic Centre (KAA), Salvation Army Boys Home, Pibakat, Sarawak Children Cancer Society (SCCS), and Society of Kuching Urban Poor.
