Big turnout, Dr Sim and wife cast votes

KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian arrived at the SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang Hilir voting centre in Batu Kawah here at 9.10am to cast their ballots for the Stampin parliamentary constituency this morning (Nov 19).

Dr Sim, who is the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Eng Ong.

Both of them were seen queuing with the other voters before waiting to enter the voting room to cast their votes.

Earlier, voters were already seen queuing as early as 7am.

According to an observer (permerhati barung) the voter turnout rate this morning was good because of the good weather.

“In the evening, the turnout rate might be slow because it is expect to rain,” he said.

SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang is one of the voting centres for the Stampin constituency, and it is expected to see a total of 7,148 voters.

At the voting centre, 11 voting lanes are prepared for the voting process.
